Christ's 'image' on clouds

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The "image" of Jesus Christ was allegedly captured on a cellular phone camera on Sunday afternoon.

This was during the height of the celebration of the Holy Mass and solemnization of Christ the King at Villa Del Sol subdivision in this city.

Alma Dofero, a former nun from Sasmuan, said just before dusk and the culmination of the celebrations, she looked up to the sky in prayer and noticed what seemed to be the image of a bearded man resembling Christ.

Not letting the cloud formation pass off, she said she immediately captured the image on her mobile phone.

Dofero immediately shared the image with Sun.Star Pampanga and other reporters covering the event.

As the image was shown to the religious and some seminarians, it drew various reactions -- from disbelief, signs or signals of faith renewal and hair-raising manifestations of belief.

Most of those interviewed by Sun.Star Pampanga said it was Christ Himself blessing and watching the rites. But many others dismissed the image as "mere cloud formations" that challenges one's perception of it.

Told about and shown the image, Archbishop Paciano Aniceto said the Church is not inclined to validate the "apparition" immediately.

"We will have to conduct an investigation and interview those who saw it just like any reported miracle. But it would be a good sign of faith if it was really our Lord, especially in these troubling times," he said. (Jovi T. De Leon)
