MANILA -- The "Pride and Glory" fight of Filipino boxer Marvin "Marvelous" Sonsona and Mexican challenger Alejandro "Payasito" Hernandez ended in a split draw.
The 19-year-old boxer from General Santos and Hernandez finished the 12 rounds of battle with a score of 115-113, 113-115, 114-114.
Prior the bout, Sonsona lost his World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior bantamweight title when he stepped in the scales and his weight tipped at 117.6 lbs. Hernandez met the 115 lbs limit.
The WBO title will remain vacant as Hernandez failed to defeat Sonsona.
Last week, Marvin's cousin Eden knocked out Eilon Kedem of New York in two rounds in the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto undercard.
People's champ Pacquiao was also successful in his bout with Cotto snatching the WBO welterweight crown and winning his seventh world title in seven different weight divisions. (Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
