Pulpul to grace SuperB 9-Ball

DEMOSTHENES “Plong-Plong” Pulpul may be looking at bigger tournaments ahead, but the current world No.9 player is expected to display his expertise in the 2009 Sun.Star Superbalita 9-Ball Challenge, which starts this Saturday at the E-Mall Activity Center.

Pulpul is gearing up for the World 10-ball Championship on Nov. 25-30 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, the same tournament where he came out as a surprise semifinalist last year.

Cebuano billiards patron Paul “Maggi” Maga-dan confirmed Pulpul’s attendance in the tournament.

“It is important for Plong-Plong to play and win in the Superballita 9-Ball because it would boost his confidence going to the World 10-Ball Championships,” Magadan said.

The competition has been graced and won by top the country’s top billiard players including Dennis Orcollo, who won the title in 2003 and 2006, Antonio Gabica (2002), Elmer Haya (2004), Ron-nie Alcano (2005), Alex Pa-gulayan (2007) and Gandy Valle (2008).

Aside from Pulpul, the other players under Maga-dan’s wing, Reyner Espejo and Oliver Villafuerte will also take part in the annual billiard tournament.

The two are currently working their way up the billiards ladder in Manila where they slowly have been getting some attention and recognition.
